How To Increase Your Engagement on Facebook with Referrals

Known Facts

  • Best days to posts Thur/Fri/Sunday “Mothers Day – Christmas – Thanks Giving”
  • Post every three – four hours
  • Never double post
  • Never post the same information on your Business Page as you put on your Personal Profile
  • Pictures are better than video
  • Video is better than Links
  • Make my heart sing – tell me something I do Not know (Edu-Tain)
  • Sharing a post is the biggest complement
  • Commenting on a post will send your business card
  • Liking is better than doing nothing
  • You create cross-pollination through the people who LIKE your page
  • You MUST spend time in your news feed
  • If no one is “Talking About” your page – your posts are falling on deaf ears
  • Always talk to the people who spend time on your page – think Chamber of Commerce luncheon!!!!!!

An Idea Worth Considering 

If Facebook is a place for caring and sharing I have two rules that I try to remember before posting… Find a way to thank a person or business for all their support by using the @Coast Realty Powell River…. which is known as a mention. Just doing this simple @ symbol not only helps your page with engagement possibilities but it also helps the @mention(ed)… You must have LIKED their Business Page for it to work, and it does not always work… don’t get frustrated try a different approach, and NEVER give up….

Here is the second idea which is really a lot of FUN… Try working together with another department or even supplier to run a contest or share valuable information…

For example if you were a Realtor – Florist – Boutique Wine Store – Spa – Farmers Market… anything really… help each other by working together on each others pages… run contests together… give tips that complement one another and give away a prize once a mouth… the cost is affordable when it is a team effort…

  • Write a small blog about your fabulous department
  • Tell us the company’s secret to success
  • Add a photo album of your department and team…
  • Tell us what your proud of
  • Who is the employee of the month and why
  • Top appetizer of the week – best lunch bucket
  • Best wine under $20 (according to the local experts and then ask them)
  • Host a Facebook party at a local winery and invite all your FANS!!!

  • Do’s and Don’ts
  • Favorite company photos…run a local photo contest….

You see the ideas are endless and we just need to step outside the box… don’t throw the box away…recycle it with the LOVE of referrals and compliments …and always give a helping hand where you can…

Here is a bonus tip: the more the pages you follow understand how to use Facebook to gain the most exposure the better off you are following them… Get out there and hold some hands ♥

Garden – Before any flowers or vegetables will grow in your garden you will need to corner off an area and bring in soil – yes a little work is ahead for you

Facebook – Before anyone can follow you, you will need to create a Business Page with professional photos. 1. Beautiful cover Image 2. One business profile image

Garden – Now you’ll need to decide what you want to grow, and then plant the seeds

Facebook – You’ll need to decide what you’re going to speak about or post in your status update (Niche)

Garden – The ground will dry up fast so don’t forget to water, and pull those weeds

Facebook – It is essential that a business page looks for other like-minded business pages to LIKE and then talks to those businesses in their comment section after a post

Garden – I don’t know of many things that will grow without sunlight…let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Facebook – When people or businesses talk to you, make sure you acknowledge their presence, and say something back…this is known as engagement and this will grow you’re talking about.

Garden – If you pick the flowers or vegetables more will grow and all you need to do is Repeat – Repeat – Repeat

Facebook – If you schedule your Facebook time everyday or two, it will become a habit… a little post, a little chat with your followers and then head over to your business news feed and chat it up with other businesses… Repeat – Repeat – Repeat

It seems pretty simple and sometimes we tend to make it more than it really is, because we are entering unfamiliar territory. Take your time and smell the flowers… nurture your new community and it will grow. Be honest, have fun and stay you ♥

How To Get People To LIKE Your Business Page on Facebook

Funny and yet brilliant thing about your Facebook Business page, is you can only LIKE other business pages, as a business page you cannot LIKE people, and the goal of your business page is to get people to LIKE your page… I do not recommend Facebook’s suggestions where you hand over your valuable e-mail lists that have taken you years to collect, but instead find a more creative way to do the same task…It’s really a Catch 22

Ideas for getting people to LIKE your Business Page

  • Do your own e-mail campaign
  • Remember the ps – Have you got a business page we could LIKE?
  • At your open house, hand out little pieces of paper with your vanity URL
  • Put Your Page Name on Your Business Cards
  • Add a LINKED Facebook icon to your e-mail signature
  • Put  Follow Me with your Vanity URL on your vehicle
  • Add it to your store front window
  • News Letter
  • All promotional material
  • Use the “Invite Friends” search on Facebook Build Audience
  •  Install a LIKE button on your website
  • Connect your Facebook Page to Twitter – not the other way
  • Run a contest
  • Donate $1 to a local charity with every LIKE
  • Connect your Business Page in the Work & Education section of your personal profile on Facebook
  • Add a LINK in Your Blog
  • Try a QR Code
  • Add Facebook to your LinkedIn account – Twitter account and YouTube
  • The number one way to get people to LIKE you – is to LIKE other Businesses!

How to Understand the Value of your Facebook Insights

Facebook has really improved how we can understand the interaction or activity that is taking place on our Facebook Business Page… Sometime it can seem like we are doing a lot of work and no one is listening. Those feelings while understandable can now be validated through Facebook Insights.

To have the Insights view button you must have at least 30 LIKES from people (Personal Profile) on your Facebook Business Page. Businesses Pages that LIKE you, do not count…nor do they count as Fans….but they are very important!

Facebook Insights

  • The Insights dashboard gives you an in-depth look into your content posting
  • Page views
  • Tab views
  • External references
  • Media Consumption
  • Geographical – gender specific – age – countries – cities – language

For me the most valuable button that is not ego centric would be the Interactions Tab which talks specifically about my postings and the response, impressions and feedback it generated…

Why this is so important is because it allows you to curb, change or increase popular posts,,,the insights give you the response that post generated, giving you clear measurable information… especially if you are passing it along to the big guy.

I should add that knowing the cities my viewers live in is very important for my business… Having Facebook confirm viewers from : Nanaimo, Vancouver, Whistler, Port Coquitlam and Victoria let’s me know my reach is far greater than with my print advertising. This is incredible exposure – oh and it’s Free for right now.
