What Really Happened On Whistler Mountain?

Cisco Masquerade

  Cisco Masquerade Mountain Top Gala

The secrecy of a party on top of Whistler Mountain after hours… is extremely exciting… and when your ticket tells you to be at the Whistler Mountain Village Gondola between 6:30 – 7:30pm.. you arrive on time… being greeted by the President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Brownlie and the Senior Vice President of Operations Doug Forseth, was admirable…it also gave you the sense right away that this was going to be a fun evening… these two leaders in our community have always gone over and above for Whistler… I can recall seeing both of these gentlemen out directing traffic during the Christmas rush hour .. as well speaking for the Women of Whistler, Rotary and several other events in Whistler.. http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/ This evening was the 18th Annual TELUS Winter Classic which was spread over a two-day period.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation http://www.whistlerblackcombfoundation.com/

The Foundation provides financial support to many registered non-profit organizations from the Sea to Sky Corridor whose activities provide benefit to the residents of this glorious resort and neighboring communities… in areas of education, recreation, human services, an emphasis on children, the youth and family programs, as well the environment, arts and culture .

Greeting From Cirque Du Soleil

You know before you enter the ball of magic and fantasy… you are welcomed by an array of volunteers who quickly take your Parka’s and Sorrels.. these joyful individuals dedicate many hours of their personal time to help in this worthy cause… and thus deserve a round of applause…they couldn’t do it without you!

The Ball

Once up the stairs at the Roundhouse the party is in full swing, we were greeted by gorgeous Marie Antoinette painted women who serve you champagne and welcome you to the Cirque Du Soleil… The painting of the women is incredible and very interesting to see all the detail involved. This type of patient imaginative art is mastered by Cary and Paulo from Paintertainment …  http://bit.ly/h92Zv3

It is a lot of fun to find your friends hiding behind some very gorgeous masks and dressed to party the night away!

The Food

Between the food and the dancing it’s hard to choose which is better…Strategically placed around the roundhouse.. you will find sumptuous buffet food stations, one with Rack of Lamb popsicle, Pork Loin, a seafood station of Oysters and Prawns… an array of cheeses, and Fondue…you simply walk around and experience a culinary of delight…and dazzle for your eyes.. I need to mention the chocolate table… this was so cool, an absolutely beautiful girl painted to the nines scurries around with a table on her waist filled with delicious chocolates…mmmmm

The Entertainment

In the middle of the room were acrobats doing twirls and bends inside metal balls raised high above the ground, in one room was a giant steel puppet being manipulated by marionettes (six men and women with big long strings) as Ace MacKay-Smith spun rhythmic  tunes.

Let’s not forget that the idea is to raise money… the auction tables were loaded with generously donated items that were a real deal if you could secure your bid.. In the end over $240,000 was raised from almost 800 guests. Once the Auction tables closed and the Live Auction was complete the band took the stage.. and the party started… famousplayers BAND is a 12 piece group that are a lot of fun and can play any song you ask… once they started the dance floor was packed…

In the end I suggested to Andre from the Bearfoot Bistro http://www.bearfootbistro.com/ that we should throw a party at his restaurant and invite the people on the dance floor.. what an awesome group of Whistler locals having the time of their lives… In fact I wrote down all their names as people I’d invite to my next big bash – including Elaine!

The Gondola ride up and down was very scenic… the stars were out and lite up the village making it sparkle…..

Cheers!
