I was out running this morning and came across a few paths that still had a lot of snow – I figured maybe as a tourist the following information might be helpful. Example: Lost Lake is wet, muddy, and in most spots covered with icy snow.
What I did was spend the next hour just running different trails – If you are a guest in Whistler the following routes are free of snow – unless of course we get a big Blizzard and well you know what will happen. This is not a bad thing as the TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival starts next week. April 16th – 25th 2010.
Top Ten Dry Routes
Leave the village and run down Lorimer Rd towards Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church – from there both directions are dry
#1. South to Rainbow Park #2. North to Meadow Park Sports Center
#3. If you can handle hills, go straight up Glacier Dr this is an excellent work out and it is really interesting to check out the Sliding Center

#4. You can hop on the Valley Trail right next to the skate board park and run North past Blackcomb Way, down under the over pass, stay left and travel along the Fitzsimmons River, all the way to the old camp grounds and Nicklaus North Golf Club
#5. Head through the Village towards the TELUS Conference Center and down the walkway to come out where the new White Spot is – follow the road under the highway to where it comes out to Whistler Golf Club the Valley Trail is next to the Club House and goes south all the way to Creekside and then some.

#6. I know the Valley Trail is still closed in Emerald, but if you start right at the blockade and run along Green Lake towards the Village it is dry; this is good if you are in Emerald or Alpine.
#7. Just doing a simple loop around the Village is safe and in the mornings before 9am – no one really is out!
#8. A drive to Squamish can get you up and down the Chief in 2 hours!
#9. A loop around Blackcomb Way will run you by all the hotels and if you stay on the road past The Fairmont Chateau Whistler – you’ll pass the Four Seasons Hotel and the Chateau Golf Club – you can even run down to Lost Lake on this route – follow the signs
#10. Your hotel probably has a fabulous gym or even a swimming pool – so bring your goggles and swim cap….and don’t forget to treat yourself to a lovely massage….
